Shawn Palmer, ND (Registered Naturopathic Doctor) is dedicated to helping your body naturally heal itself from the inside out. His inspiration for alternative medicine comes from serving in the Peace Corps, where he worked as a middle school science teacher on a tropical island in the South Pacific. He was stunned to see the dramatic differences between residents who had a traditional island lifestyle and those who had an American lifestyle. He saw up close how a traditional island lifestyle created men in their 50s and 60s with muscular, healthy bodies and women with vibrancy, strength, and vigor. At the same time, islanders eating an American diet and working at desk jobs were dying of heart attacks in their 40s. Watching this, Dr. Palmer knew there had to be a better way to live life and practice medicine.
His Peace Corps experiences inspired him to become a naturopathic doctor and share with people in Northern Colorado and Southeast Wyoming how to improve their health with diet, lifestyle, proper supplementation, and naturopathic techniques. His practice has reinforced his belief that even the most difficult diseases usually have answers and to never give up on a patient. He maintains active practices in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Laramie, Wyoming.
Dr. Palmer received his doctorate of naturopathic medicine in 2006 from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and participated in clinic-based internships. He has completed extensive continuing education in the areas of nutritional response testing, homeopathy, and other natural healing techniques, along with regularly following new research findings in natural medicine.
